Merry Christmas !! ☃

❇ Merry Christmas everyone ❇
What a wonderful time of the year!

✶Let me tell a little story about the famous Christmas Day:

✶It is a christian holiday that celebrates Jesus's birth on the 25th of December. But nowadays it is not just a religious holiday, it is also a worldwide holiday.

✶Before Jesus era, winter was a period of feasts, most of the nations had something to honor at that moment of the year.

✶At first, when Christianity appeared, the birth of Jesus was not celebrated because the date was not mention in the Bible. Only Easter was an official holiday. In the 4th century, Church decided that Jesus's birth would be a religious holiday, and it's the Pope Julius I who chose the 25th of December.

✶The tradition of celebrating Christmas spread very quickly in all Europe. At first, the celebration of Christmas was very different than how we do now. Believers went to church and then celebrated by drinking and dressing up kind of in a actual Mardi-Gras way, and rich people shared with the less fortunate.

✶When Olivier Cromwell took over England in 1645, he cancelled Christmas. So, when the pilgrims immigrated to America, Christmas was not a holiday, it was even considered outlawed to show signs of a Christmas spirit in Boston from 1659 to 1681.

✶New traditions like decorating trees or giving gifts only started in the 19th century.

✶Did you know that today's Santa Claus was inspired by Saint Nicolas who gave gifts to good children on 6th of December. He was originally given the name of "Father Christmas" then changed to "Santa Claus" based on the Dutch "Sinter Klass" which is the pronunciation of Saint Nicolas.

✶Now you know the basis of the Christmas holidays, so I wish you all a great time with your family and friends!
Merry Christmas again!!

LOVE. ♥
